Dr Luke Evans, the Member of Parliament for Bosworth, has welcomed news that government funding for small businesses has been expanded to cover micro businesses which had previously not been eligible for support. Several businesses in Hinckley and Bosworth will be eligible for the important lifeline.
The Business Secretary, Alok Sharma, and Minister for Regional Growth and Local Government, Simon Clarke, announced the £617 million fund to support small businesses with ongoing fixed-property related costs which will benefit businesses in shared spaces, regular market traders, small charity properties and bed and breakfasts.
Dr Luke said “The Government have supported our economy through this crisis, both nationally and on an local level. But it has also been clear from early on that a number of smaller businesses here in Bosworth were at risk of falling through the cracks between different support schemes.
“Support has been easy to access if you are eligible for business rates but much harder if you are not. I’ve been supporting local businesses, writing to ministers and petitioning Government for weeks to act in supporting our micro businesses and I’m very pleased that they have done so.
Small businesses who have not previously been able to access the Small Business Grants Fund or Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants Fund, who employ less than 50 staff and can demonstrate a significant drop of income due to Coronavirus restriction measures should contact Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council who are administering grant funding.
