Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Bosworth, has welcomed extra funding from the Government, providing schools in Bosworth with £2,685,158 in extra funding, as part of additional £2 billion this year and next for primary schools and secondary schools in England.
Every state school in Bosworth will receive extra cash, with a typical primary school receiving approximately an extra £35,000 and £200,000 for a typical secondary school.
The Institute for Fiscal Studies has highlighted how this uplift will mean 2024–25 will be the highest spending year in history for schools, with a budget of £58.8 billion.
School funding is set to rise faster than forecast inflation in both 2023–24 and 2024–25.
This latest tranche of funding for schools in Bosworth is in addition to the £900,000 announced at the end of last year to help support school in the area amid global rises in energy costs, an effect of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine which Dr Evans welcomed at the time as a way of giving schools “greater certainty and power over their budgets.”
This new funding aims to do the same, as schools will be able to choose how best to invest the extra funding, including to pay for teacher salary uplifts and teaching assistants. Most state primary and secondary schools across Bosworth will have received their first payment by 10th May 2023.
