I've recently received emails from constituents highlighting the End the Cages Campaign by the RSPCA. These emails raised concerns that caged animals struggle to move around in cramped conditions, which sadly results in considerable suffering.
I wrote to the Farming Minister, Daniel Zeichner MP, to ask for his thoughts and comments on the issue and the Department's assessment on how the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway is helping famers to consider other methods than the use of cages.
