In the House of Commons yesterday I was able to thank our hard working police officers and the recently re-elected Police and Crime Commissioner, Rupert Matthews, for their work across Leicestershire where we’ve seen overall crime cut by 4.4% and rural and wildlife crime down by a phenomenal 24%!
Over the last four years we’ve seen Leicestershire Police rated ‘Outstanding’ in three key areas, making them one of the top Forces in the country:
- Outstanding at preventing crime
- Outstanding at protecting vulnerable people
- Outstanding at recording data about crime
And, of particular importance for our area, we’ve seen the formation of the Leicestershire and Rutland Rural Policing Team who have worked hard to cut rural and wildlife crime by 24% and have recovered over £1.3 million worth of stolen equipment.
And you can read the latest newsletter from the Rural Policing Team in the attached pdf below.
