I recently met with the Schools Minister to reiterate concerns around the impact of the Government’s plan to introduce VAT charges on fee-paying schools as soon as January 2025.
Labour have a mandate to deliver their tax on education, it was in their manifesto.
But I'm concerned about the impact on children‘s mental well-being if they’re forced to move schools mid-year, the knock-on effect for our local state schools who already struggle for places, and the impact on children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
I will continue to work with schools in our area to address any issues they face and make representations to the Government about the impact of this policy.
