Enhancing Skills, Education and Opportunities
- Helped Twycross Zoo secure £19.9 million for a National Science and Conservation Centre
- Welcomed creation of over 10,950 apprenticeships in Bosworth since 2010
- Millions of pounds for Hinckley School
- Raised SEND provisions in Leicestershire and ideas from local schools directly with the Education Secretary
- Discussed amending the criterion for the Apprenticeship Levy with the Business Minister and lobbied for the removal of red tape with a Treasury Minister
- Been pleased to see 263 new Police Officers covering Leicestershire since the last General Election
- Welcomed high local employment rates and met with staff at Job Centre Plus at the Hinckley Hub to discuss how they support people who are looking for work.
Championing Local Healthcare
- Successfully lobbied for £14.5m of funding for a Community Diagnostic Centre at Hinckley Hospital, bringing capacity for 125,000 tests, scans and checks to our area
- £450 million for Leicester Royal Infirmary
- £3 million for George Eliot Hospital
- Campaigned for and welcomed the return of an X-Ray unit in Hinckley
- Supporting a £7 million Day Case Unit for Hinckley Hospital
- Raised local and national health issues each week by being a member of the Health and Social Care Select Committee
- £3.47m to increase capacity in post-discharge care for our county
- £795,000 to improve mental health support across Leicestershire and Rutland
- Met frequently with local NHS leaders to discuss challenges in our area and plans to tackle the backlog
Progressing Rural and Environmental Issues
- £400,000 as part of Rural England Prosperity Fund
- Championed local farmers and called for more support with their mental wellbeing as the profession is one of the most at risk of suicides
- Wrote to Chief Executives of supermarkets with stores in our areas to ask what they're doing to support local farmers
- Welcomed a new rural crime team to protect local countryside, and joined officers for a ride along to farms to discuss issues such as equipment theft, anti-social behaviour and vandalism
- Successfully campaigned for Pet Theft Legislation
- Ran a rural survey to hear your views and met with local farmers
- Launched a campaign to Protect Burbage Common against the Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange (HNRFI) proposals and received more than 1,000 survey results from constituents
Improving Transport and Infrastructure
- Delivered a keynote speech at the A5 Conference on the economic and strategic importance of the road to our region
- Secured £20 million to explore design improvements to the A5
- Welcomed a massive increase in access to fast, reliable gigabit-capable broadband from 0.2% in Jan 2019 to over 67% now!!
- Helped 331 homes in Burbage, 80 in Stoke Golding and many others get connected to superfast broadband
- £28 million to upgrade broadband in Leicestershire
- Welcomed millions in funding to explore reopening the Ivanhoe Line
Working for Our Community
- Supported constituents with over 22,000 cases since I was elected
- Successfully called for reform to the parole system, welcoming plans to put public protection at the centre of decision making for cases such as Colin Pitchfork
- Welcomed people from our area down to Westminster for tours of the Houses of Parliament
- Successfully lobbied the Government to keep the Pensions Triple Lock in place
- Ran weekly surgery appointments with constituents to discuss a plethora of topics
- Made over 350 spoken contributions in the House of Commons
- Hosted meetings with Parish Council representatives and an Inspector from Hinckley Police to discuss local issues
- Urged constituents to check their eligibility for Pension Credit
- Worked with the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero to help pass legislation providing energy support to households and non-domestic users across the UK
- Sat on roundtables for the Women's Health Strategy
- Successfully campaigned for the housing algorithm, which would have seen an unsustainable number of houses placed within our community, to be scrapped
