Following the passing of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Books of Condolence have been made available throughout Hinckley and Bosworth for people to leave tributes and share memories of the Queen.
Local people have been invited to sign Books of Condolence, which, following the period of National Mourning, will either be sent to the Royal Family or archived. Such Books were made available throughout our area in villages and towns at locations including the Hinckley Hub, Burbage Millennium Hall, St Giles Church of England Parish Church, the Akins Building and Bagworth Community Centre.
Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Bosworth, visited Hinckley to sign the Book of Condolence in St Marys Church and leave a tribute to Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The local MP had also paid tribute to The Queen in the House of Commons on September 9th, noting her many years of service and stating that, to him, she will be remembered as Queen Elizabeth the Dutiful.
Dr Luke Evans MP said: “Since receiving the extremely sad news that Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed away, I have had the honour of paying tribute to her incredible legacy, both on behalf of Bosworth in the House of Commons and in this personal message.
“Having spent the week following the Queen’s death down in Westminster I have seen the raw emotions brought by this news, listened to my colleagues share recollections of time spent in the Queen’s company, watched as King Charles III made his first address to members of the House of Commons and Lords and paid my respects to the Queen as she was Lying-in-State.
“And if one thing has become clear to me, it’s that words struggle to reflect the loss our nation, the Commonwealth and all who admired our beloved Queen are feeling. My thoughts are with the King and Royal Family at this difficult time.”
