Earlier this month I was disappointed to hear that HSBC would be closing their branch in Market Bosworth, the only bank and place to access cash in the town.
I immediately contacted HSBC to express my concern about this and the detrimental effects that closure of the branch would have on people in Market Bosworth. There are many people across our community who don’t use digital banking and would otherwise struggle to draw cash.
I convened a meeting that took place this morning between myself, Borough Councillor Maureen Cook and Parish Councillors Nigel Palmer and John Wasteney to meet with the team from HSBC to reiterate our concerns and find a way forward which will support our area.
I will be raising this with the HSBC and Community Cash Access Review team at LINK but in the meantime I need your help...
Anyone can register their concerns by visiting the Community Cash Access Review form and clicking “REQUEST A REVIEW”, this demonstrates to LINK how important access to cash is in our community: Request Access to Cash | LINK
A petition has been opened to oppose closure of the branch, you can sign it here: Petition · Oppose Closure of Market Bosworth HSBC Branch · Change.org
This is an ongoing issue and I will be formally writing to HSBC, along with the Councillors, about this in the new year with the updated petition.
As always, I will provide updates as and when I have them.
