Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Bosworth, has welcomed the next £300 cost of living support payment from the Government for thousands of vulnerable people across Bosworth.
Between 31st October and 19th November 2023 over 9,100 eligible households across Bosworth will receive £300 to support with cost of living pressures over the coming months.
The £300 payment will be sent out automatically and directly to eligible households, so there is no need to apply.
This is the second of three payments totalling up to £900 for those eligible and on means-tested benefits, such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit, or tax credits, in 2023-24, and will help families affected by global inflation.
Details about the third cost of living payment will be announced in due course.
Eligible pensioner households will also receive a further £300 payment later this year as an addition to the Winter Fuel Payment.
Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Bosworth, said “I welcome this second £300 support payment for eligible people and families, to ease cost of living pressures this winter.
“Since the war in Ukraine and the escalation of energy prices, the Government stepped in and was paying about half of the energy bill for all households – roughly £37 billion pounds! Now that inflation is falling and global prices are reducing, the energy market is beginning to stabilise, which is most welcome.
“However, times are still tough, particularly for those most vulnerable, so I’m pleased to see the Government support over 9,000 vulnerable people across Hinckley and Bosworth. I urge everyone to find out what help they’re entitled to, including the Warm Homes Discount Scheme and Pension Credit.”
Mel Stride, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, said “The best way we can boost bank balances is by bearing down on inflation, but as we get there, we are ensuring the most vulnerable households are cushioned from high prices with a further cost of living payment.
